Residency Rotation Sites About Little Rock

At the Harvey and Bernice Jones Eye Institute at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, we are not only concerned with caring for patients but also educating doctors and ophthalmic technologists for the future.

We are directly responsible for the Ophthalmology Residency Training Program and the Ophthalmic Medical Technology Program. In our residency training program, our residents receive a broad and extensive clinical and surgical experience with a wide range of disease entities. In addition to their clinical experience, they have a structured program of lectures and discussions of journal articles relating to the patients they evaluate.

The Ophthalmic Medical Technology Program is a collaboration among the UAMS College of Health Professions, the Department of Ophthalmology and the Jones Eye Institute. This is a two-year full-time program where students receive a combination of classroom education and approximately 1,900 hours of clinical training in direct patient care. Our program is one of only five formal ophthalmic medical technology educational programs in the United States
